Global point bd: Mother wanted her daughter to be established because she could not study much. The daughter also wanted the same. And because she wanted, she is continuing her studies beyond all obstacles. Also doing outsourcing work as a freelancer. Not only is he doing it himself, but his mother has also taught him. Now mother and daughter work together. This story is about daughter Afroza Siddika and mother Mohchena Begum. Talked to them on September 5.

The conversation with Afroza Siddiqui started about his studies. He said, ‘I wanted to study in Dhaka University. But that dream did not come true and later I got admission in Tejgaon College. But there was an insistence to do something. I thought it would be better if I could do something myself. Later I came to know about freelance outsourcing from my friend Habib.

Afroza told her mother about her interest in learning to work as a freelancer in IT. Mother supported Afroza learning graphic design first at an outsourcing training center near home in Jatrabari, Dhaka and later at another training center in Dhanmondi. He said, ‘My mother enrolled me in a graphic design course. Since then, my freelancing work has started.

Afroza is studying in the third year of Sociology Department of Tejgaon College. At the same time graphic design training is going on. For this he has to go from Jatrabari to Dhanmondi regularly. Going to the training center, Afroza realizes that it is not enough to just learn, but to practice regularly. The best way to do this is to learn it in class and teach it to someone else. It will take practice, someone else can learn it. Afroja did it. What he learned in the training center, he tried to teach his mother when he came home. This is how mother-daughter graphic design initiation continues.

Afroza got his first success in April this year by winning the first place in a website logo design competition called ‘Design Crowd’ and getting $150. This is how it started. Afroza said, ‘Since April till now my total income is about 3 thousand dollars. Now I am teaching three other girls at home with my mother.’

Mohchena Begum believes that mothers should play a major role for the advancement of women in the country. He said, “I could not study more than the fifth standard. So I always wanted my daughter to do something, stand on her own feet. This is why I supported my daughter’s wishes without listening to anyone’s words. My daughter also helped me. I learned little by little from him, and so far I have earned about 300 dollars. I would tell every mother to support girls’ wishes. With our support, girls can move forward. See More
